It’s Time To Tell Your Story — Kasey Bruce

Hey! My name is Kasey and I am a videographer based in the San Francisco Bay Area. I help business owners build their community using cinematic spotlight videos.

Growing up in the Ingleside of San Francisco, I’ve been inspired endlessly by the talent and electricity in this city. I’ve always been a filmmaker at heart but it wasn’t until a worldwide pandemic that I realized that I wanted to pursue it professionally. This is my story.

In 2020, I had just graduated from college and was working part-time when the COVID-19 pandemic suddenly hit. Literally, overnight, I went from running art activities and playing sports, to tutoring kids on Zoom Calls 3-Hours a day. It wasn't how I had planned things to go and my passion for education began to fade.

Staring at a screen for 8-hours a day gets old real quick. I tried to incorporate more "creative things" into my work, but that didn't change how I felt. If anything, mixing my creative ideas with the work side drained me even more. Something was missing and I was running on empty.

The kids could see it, my coworkers could see it, and I refused to see it. I was BURNT OUT. I applied to over 20 jobs but all I heard was radio silence. I thought about quitting many times but fear held me back. Fear of Instability. Fear of the Unknown. Reason said, "you're lucky to even have a job, just get over it." “The kids had gone through so much since distance learning...how could I leave them at a time like this?" My moment of clarity came at the end of the summer.

It was the last day of class with my photography cohort and I was giving them my goodbye speech. "I don't expect you all to become photographers,” I said. “I hope you all find your spark and chase after that. I'll be here rooting for you!" As the call ended and I stared at that blank screen, I couldn't help but feel like a fraud.

Who was I to tell students to put themselves first when I couldn’t even do that for myself? That's when it clicked.

I had to take the leap.

For so long, I let fear control what I did, what I shared, and what I was capable of doing. It was time to take action. I started a PUBLIC Instagram account and began sharing what I knew. Photos, videography, blogging, - anything that I wanted while building my personal brand. And the surprising part? People actually liked what I had to say! I rediscovered my spark and wasn’t going to lose it again. By sharing my projects online, I began to meet fellow creatives and expand my network. The momentum kept going as my portfolio grew post by post and soon, I was catching the attention of creative agencies in my area!

So now I’m here. A full-time content creator helping other brands build community and market themselves better. I'm able to make a living doing videography with amazing businesses that value community and creativity. The crazy thing is - none of this would've been possible if I didn't take the leap.

So what’s next?

My goal is to bridge the gap between your vision and the finished product while saving you time, energy, and resources. I would like to bring clarity to your marketing strategy and find solutions to help push your business forward. Whether you an apparel brand or a store-front business, I’m driven to help give you a result through high-end video content. Let’s bring your story to life.
