Something To Call My Own — Nicole Martinez

As a first-generation Guatemalan American, I was always encouraged to take advantage of all the opportunities available to me, that included higher education.

I earned a career in museum education and exhibition development where all of the elements that drive me as a person blended beautifully: community, creativity, experiences, and storytelling.

There was, however, something missing.

I wanted something to call my own…and I’ve known that since I was younger. In more recent years while I continued to work on my photography skills, my entrepreneurial spirit was itching for more.

My photography business started as a hobby but as I gained more confidence and continued learning, I knew I reached a point where I needed to pursue this dream of mine.

Why has this been important to me? One of my goals is freedom. Freedom to create without boundaries and freedom to spend time with the people that are important to me.

Today, as a personal brand photographer, I work with creative entrepreneurs who want to elevate and add character to their visual narrative through compelling images.
